BOLAM Weekly Update: Children had a good week - Blessing turned 11 years old

Keirungi Children’s Village:
* Children: The children had a wonderful week. They are all doing well. Our two HIV-positive children are doing better. They are taking their drugs and receiving supplementary feeding as needed. Blessing’s health continues to be better and we were pleased to hear from her school head teacher that she is the most well behaved pupil in the whole school. We celebrated Blessing’s 11th Birthday last Sunday 7/20. We enjoy special time with Shalom and Friday while the other children are at school. They are so cute together!

Thank you for praying for all of our children at Keirungi: Joseph, Alex, Amanya, Kato, Kakuru, Gift, Night, Determine, Murungi, Antony, Deo, Blessing, Shalom, Nunu, Evelyn, Friday, Namara, Innocent Tumuhimbise, Innocent Tumwesigye, and Pretty (our new house mom’s child). Thank you, as well, for praying for those children we have resettled with their families: Ninsiima and Odongo and Opio.

* Staff: Staff are cooperatively doing their work excellently. The new house mothers, Jolly and Patience, are getting used to the system at KCV and enjoying the work.

* Sunday Service (7/20/14): The service was led by Caleb and he shared about the mustard seed parable and 1 Peter 3:8.

* Community: We donated secondhand children clothes to the needy women who work on the tea estate in our neighborhood; they were very grateful.

* Guardrails: We had guardrails installed on the steps behind the KCV house and outdoor kitchen where our children climb to go to school. Additionally, we put rails along the edge on the upper ground to prevent a child from falling over.

* Agriculture: Staff did weeding of the vegetable garden and carried manure to the fields where we will soon plant crops. The grounds people also dug up and carried sand that will be used to build steps going down to the playgrounds.

BOLAM Uganda:
* Adoption: We continued gathering documents for our first adoption cases.

BOLAM USA:
* Mission Team: We continued preparing for the mission team from Northern Ridge Baptist Church. We will host seven people from the church who will be at Keirungi from August 8 to August 17.

General Ugandan, World, and Cox Family Update:
* Rain: Kabale had its first rains of the summer dry season since April.

* Water purifier: We purchased a water purifier for home that claims to produce drinking water safer than boiled water. I sure hope the company is right! So far, I haven’t gotten sick.
